Charging the NightStar flashlight
- Shake it like you would shake a can of spray paint; the magnet that moves inside the NightStar housing must fully pass through the coil that is located in the middle of the flashlight.
- The motion does not have to be vigorous, but the faster you shake it, the faster it will charge.
- A normal charging time is NightStar is 20-30 seconds, which will provide up to 15 minutes of
useable light. Initially a NightStar may require 60 seconds of shaking for a full charge
due to the complete discharge of the capcitor that sometimes occurs during shipping.
- Charging time for NightStar CS is 3 minutes for a full charge, which will provide
10-15 minutes of useable light, and because it is not fully discharged when it begins to dim, it will not
require 3 minutes to bring it back to a full charge.
- After 10-15 minutes, it starts to dim. At this point, since it is not fully discharged, turning it off, and shaking it again for 15 seconds will restore it to a full charge. NightStar CS may require a full minute to fully recharge.
- If used for less than a few minutes, and then turned off, it can simply be turned back on -- the capacitor will hold the charge for a few months.
- Due to the strong magnet inside the NightStar flashlight it is reccommended that the NightStar be kept 12-16 inches away from magnetically sensitive material such as video and audio tapes, and computer hard drives. The NightStar flashlight should also be kept away from pacemakers, as it can cause the pacemaker to reset to a factory set pace.
